Poster Presentation Guidelines

This guide applies to poster presenters only. For plenary, keynote, exhibitor and paper (oral) presenters, click here.

Presenting authors must be officially registered to the conference on or before 31 August 2021. Posters must be uploaded to Whova on or before 12 September 2021. Access to Whova will only be given upon registration of the presenting author.

Poster Presentation

The poster should be uploaded in the PDF file format. It should include the header (title, author(s), affiliation(s) and contact details), abstract, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusions, and references/acknowledgements. Chemical nomenclature should conform to IUPAC rules and measurements should be in SI units.

For the abstract, use a maximum of 250 words to convey the breakthrough and highlights of the study. For the figures and tables, number them sequentially and provide an appropriate caption, place it above for tables or below for figures. Include legends and other details as necessary. Cite major references using an appropriate citation style (i.e. APA) and acknowledge funding agencies and partner institutions as necessary.

Lay the poster out in an ISO 216 B0 size document (1000 x 1414 mm) using an appropriate desktop publishing software. Make sure that text and images are legible. Save the poster as a PDF file and upload it in Whova’s Artifact (Poster) Platform.

Video Presentation

Poster presenters have the option of including a three-minute video presentation. Inspired by the Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT®), presenters are challenged to explain their research in three minutes in a language appropriate to a non-specialist technical audience.

The presentation must be filmed horizontally with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The recording must be continuous without the use of additional electronic media (e.g. sound effects) or props (e.g. costumes, lab equipment). The recording must not exceed the allotted time for the presentation.

You may use a video conferencing software to record the presentation. The presenter has the option of including their webcam feed in the top-right corner of the recording (see examples below).

Upload the recording to a video hosting site (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo) and provide the link in Whova’s Artifact (Poster) Platform.
